MSF and beyond!!

Microsoft Solution Framework is one of the SDLC Models in the IT industry. This is a typical model on which Microsoft's solutions are built. This model is based on the TCO approach and to provide value realization process.

There are 3 flavours of MSF available.

1. SDLC
2. SDLC Light
3. SDLC Agile

where they differ is there internal implmentation and the methodology of each phase. The difference in each model is attributed to the different phases that are for each model. In a typical quality circle scenario, each phase is equally important as any other phase.

In a MBA school, there would be a subject on production which deals mostly with manufacturing and would impart quality as a main subject in which Kaizen and other stuff are thought. I was wondering how these quality can be imparted with a six sigma level of manufacturing in my industry.

As a program manager in Microsoft, you will come to learn the MSF thoroughly i cannot stop appreciaitng the way quality is maintained in MS. Each SDLC Model has its own course, for a quarterly release of things we can use SDLC Light and if we need to build a quick model we go to SDLC Agile. The obvious question would arise saying is not everything in this industry quick and fast? But you know the answer when you ask such a question.

Ask can;t things wait for perfection ? its a question of giving right things and getting right things, that is what any process would do, but what any solution should do is when you give wrong things and getting right things thats where the solution is termed as the best solution in the market.

if you look at any MS solution lets take an XL (this is not XLRI, but MS Excel) ; for all simple things XL would prompt you sayin probs you wanted this and you are trying to do this, want to try the other option in the form of Smart tags!! This is an amazing not only doing the right things in the right way and helping you differentiate the right and the wrong, MS-Solutions helps you to achieve perfection and usability. Will try to write more on usability after completing my work on that!!
